The benchwarmers. They may not be on the court, but they bring the heat. They're the secret sauce that spices up the game, cheering on their team with gusto and keeping spirits high. They're always ready to spring into action and lend a helping hand. Plus, they're the masters of positive vibes, keeping the team's energy sky-high and banishing any negativity.
Why is it that our heroes on the bench never get the spotlight they deserve? They might not be the ones who get all the cheers or the coveted starting spot, but they're the true workhorses of the team. They show up, put in the hours, and support their teammates no matter what. As a parent of a benchwarmer, it's tough to watch their disappointment when they finally get to play. They give it their all and fight with all their might, only to be swapped out for another player. A player who might have some skills but lacks the right attitude. A player who might make a few shots but struggles on defense. Let's give our benchwarmers some love, they are the unsung heroes of the game!
When the doors shut, these players kick it up a notch and put everything on the line to nab their chance at glory. I've seen firsthand how this label couldn't be further from the truth. These stars-in-the-making work harder than anyone else, overcoming obstacles left and right. They ooze with grit, devotion and a true team spirit that's second to none.

Hey there coaches, hear me out! A victory on the scoreboard is nothing but a hollow win if you don't help your players thrive. If you can't see the passion in their eyes, then that win means nothing. And worse, if you kill their love for the game, then that win is not worth celebrating!
As a coach, it's important to remember that your role goes beyond just teaching them the skills and techniques of the game. Your job also entails being a mentor, a motivator, and a supporter. You need to create a culture of positivity and encouragement where players feel safe to make mistakes and learn from them.
It's easy to appreciate the player who hits those shots. But that's not your job. Your job is the see the potential in players. To honed in that ability and grow it. It's to give the player the confidence to know they have a chance. So maybe next your down 20 points and you don't know why. Put the benchwarmer in and let they show you why.
