Local Bad Ass Women-Amy Baringer of Her Idea

Q. 1 When did the entrepreneur bug bite you?

I have been painting my whole life, I credit good friends with encouraging me to sell my items! Hence the name “her idea”! I never set out to be an entrepreneur, as much as painting and selling my pieces happened organically.

Q. 2 What is your passion?

My passion is my family. They are at the heart of everything I do.

Q.3 Who were the women mentors that encouraged you or inspired you?

My mentors are the strong women who raised me, my mother especially and aunts and stepmother. My daughter who is beautiful inside and out and the wonderful woman who I call friends. All of which inspire and encourage me daily.

Q.4 Why did you pick your business niche? Was this something you went to school for etc?

I wanted to be an art major in College but ended up choosing Marketing! I was in development for years prior to painting which was rewarding but exhausting at the same time. I'm very fortunate to be surrounded by supportive, encouraging people. One of the reasons I began painting was so that I could balance my family life and be sure to be available and present for my children. The time they are home living with us really goes by so quickly and I wanted to be able to be in the moment as much as possible. I’m a “carpool” Mom and happy to be one essentially.

Q. 6 How do you balance your entrepreneur life with friends/family that don’t understand the challenges we experience?

The time they are home living with us really goes by so quickly and I wanted to be able to be in the moment as much as possible. I’m a “carpool” Mom and happy to be one essentially.

Q.7 What Is the mission of your business/job?

I hope I am making people happy with my work. That when they receive a piece of art, it makes them smile. I try to make each piece as unique and custom as possible so that the receiver feels special and knows it was truly done with them in mind. The mission essentially is just to bring joy to others. The benefit is that I truly enjoy what I do.

Q.8 What do you want readers to know about your business?

I want readers to know that I love to hear from them after they have picked up their piece! My favorite part about painting is seeing the finished product in someone’s home, office or hands! I remember their stories and it means a lot to me that they share their lives.

Q.9 With many challenges with being a woman in business, what about being a badass woman has benefited you and your business?

I’m not sure how much of a “bad ass” I am but I would like to be! I have certainly benefitted from the many bad ass women who have purchased pieces for their wedding, home or as gifts for loved ones. Working with other women to see their ideas come to fruition is rewarding and I am grateful for every single customer who gives me that opportunity.

Q.10 Finally - What is a quote that inspires you !

"Be You"
